If you have ever had a piece of art sitting on your dining table or displayed proudly in your wall then you have likely used at least some epoxy paint. If you are like many people you have probably moved on to other types of paint but there is a very simple and cheap method that will provide you with a beautifully painted, glossy and durable surface every time. This method is called Epoxy Resins for Tables and Art and it is something that I use on a daily basis. There are a number of different kinds of epoxy available and they all serve a purpose but the most commonly used is called Rustoleum. You can purchase this in two different forms and I would suggest using the one that comes in a spray bottle because it is cheaper and a lot less messy. Everything You Need to Know About Epoxy Resins for Tables and Art has some nice tips on this.
To prepare your table for painting simply remove any varnish, stains, or paints and sweep or vacuum the tabletop. Next you need to clean the surface including all crevices and remove any loose dirt or sand. Once you have cleaned the table in this way, you are ready to apply your primer which should be light-colored and grainy paint.
The most important part of the preparation is to ensure that the sand in the table is evenly distributed. You do not want any large sand particles near the edge of the tabletop, as this will cause problems later on. After you have applied the primer you can begin the sanding process. This should be done with medium-grit paper which sandpaper will not be able to penetrate.
